Beaded Nativity Set, is the twenty-third book in the Beadflowers Beading Patterns series. It offers you the complete Nativity scene that I designed during my career as a bead artist and tutor. These projects were originally shared as tutorials through the Beadflowers website. The projects in this volume use seed beads: Delica beads for the characters and rounded seed beads for the stable. All of the characters – both human and animal - are made using Peyote and Herringbone stitches. For the stable, you will be working in Cubic Right Angle Weave (CRAW). If this is not a technique you enjoy, you can always make a different stable, or use the scene without including a stable. These beaded box instructions are designed to be followed by confident beaders with a good understanding of all the basic bead-weaving techniques. The projects are fairly advanced, but could be completed by any determined beader. If there are things you need to learn, or refresh your memory, you can supplement this book with volume two in the Beadflowers Beading Patterns series. That volume teaches you all the basic techniques. If you’re not keen on making these as beaded boxes, the tutorials also show how to adapt them to ordinary beaded ornaments. This beaded Nativity set will create a unique family heirloom to be treasured for generations. You will be making Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus in his crib. The stable includes an ox, and you can add the donkey, resting after its long journey. Then you will make the Angel bringing news to the shepherds while they watch their flock of sheep. Lastly, add the three Kings and their camels. I hope you will enjoy creating a beautiful display that is unique to you and brings joy to all your family and friends.Katie Dean followed a career in the beading industry for over 12 years. During that time, she designed and published over 500 patterns, more than 10 books, and taught numerous beading classes, both in-person and online. She also worked as editor of Bead and Jewellery Magazine for 3 years, ran her own business, Beadflowers, and appeared on the Craft Channel and Jewellery Maker TV. She reached the finals and won multiple international beading competitions, participated several times in Battle of the Beadsmith, and had her designs published in just about every major beading magazine across the world (back when beading magazines existed!). The information and projects shared in this book series, Beadflowers Beading Patterns, represent the legacy of Katie's beading experience and designs. May they support you in growing your skills and bring you much joy as you explore the wonderful world of beading! Read more
